This was disclosed by the Chairman, Technical Committee for the Establishment of School of Basic and Post Basic Nursing Programme, Dr. Kefas Zawaya, at the handing over ceremony of the schools to the management.

In his speech titled Breaking the Jinx, delivered at the handing over ceremony, the chairman said: “the dream of having School of Nursing (SON) and Post Basic Nursing (PBN) Programmes has out-lived almost all the MD’s/CMD’s of this hospital, but it took the courage of the current CMD Dr. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi to within two (2) years actualize this dream and break the jinx.” He further stated that, 30 students were admitted for the perioperative programme, and 20 for critical care.

While responding, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi, expressed appreciation to the Chairman and members of the technical committee, commended them for doing a good job. The CMD said “the vision of this management, as I have always reiterated, is to within the limited time and available resources, do all we can to make the hospital patient-centered, as all activities going on will be for the maximum benefit of the patient.”

“secondly, we shall focus on staff welfare and development to support our vision, this can only be achieved by focusing on man power development to have a crop of highly trained professionals in the system. We will therefore be working assiduously to establish more schools to train manpower for effective service delivery. I therefore call on you pioneer students, to seize the opportunity of the serene environment of the hospital, peaceful coexistence in the state, ongoing digitization of the hospital, to study hard.”
